By far the worst gift I've ever received...

When it comes to blogging, I often wonder "what the hell do people talk about on these things?". But it didn't take me long to come up with an idea of my own after receiving what has to be the worst gift ever. And to top it off, it was a wedding gift!

A Brief History
When my wife and I decided to get married, we were very reluctant to register for gifts since after 5 years together we had practically everything we needed - toaster, sheets, towels etc. However, after some deliberation with our parents and siblings (all of whom had gone through this) we decided that registering was the only way to guarantee we wouldn't receive any unwanted items. Well of course this was wrong.

This is not to say that I'm ungrateful for any of the gifts we received, however tacky or unnecessary. But when you go through the trouble of registering, the least you expect is a gift card - again I'm not demanding hundreds of dollars here, but the reality is that $5 would be more useful to me then the time and energy wasted running these 'gifts' to the local charity.

Needless to say, what you are about to see here was the inspiration for what I hope will be a very popular website. Ladies and gentleman I present to you, the faux leather briefcase of tin cutlery!

So the journey begins for this magnificent gift! Tonight I will be handing this gift off to the first lucky recipient, Pat, on his 36th birthday. And what better timing considering he'll soon be moving in to his lovely new home. Enjoy Pat! And happy birthday!!

And don't forget to enclose a small reminder about the origins of this gift as you pass it along on its merry way. In order for this to be tracked as long as possible please enclose a small card with this blog's address - Let's see how far this sucker can travel!
